HOW TO USE CARPET TAPE?

As long as you carefully follow the steps below and test the surface compatibility, you can easily use carpet tape. Please follow the steps below to install double-sided carpet tape:

1. Clean the two surfaces that the carpet tape should adhere to. Dust, dirt and grime will reduce the bonding strength of all adhesives, so it is best to clean the surface thoroughly. You can clean the surface with a standard soap solution. Don’t forget to dry the surface after cleaning and before proceeding to the next step.

2. Test a short strip on the small corner of the surface where the carpet and carpet tape will be installed. New Era carpet tape is specially formulated for wood laminate flooring, wood tiles, wool, carpets and other delicate surfaces.

3. Peel the carpet tape from the roll. Do not peel off the adhesive liner at this time. Install the carpet tape strips under the carpet and on the surface where the carpet is to be installed.

4. Maximize the applied surface area by applying as many strips as possible. Please follow the application pattern in the video summary above.

5. Peel off the adhesive liner. To easily peel off the adhesive liner, first form a small gap between the adhesive and the liner. You can use knives, knives, nails or any flat tip edge to create gaps.

6. Install the carpet on the surface. Press the mat on the surface. Our carpet binding tape has a pressure sensitive adhesive, the more pressure you put on it, the stronger it will become. Press it on the surface to make the bond stronger.

7. Leave the adhesive group for at least 12 hours to maximize the overall bond strength.

HOW TO USE CARPET TAPE ON A RUG?

Our carpet tapes are designed for concrete, wood and textiles (such as carpets and wall-to-wall carpets). However, for carpets and wall-to-wall carpets, it is recommended to use more carpet tape.

The concrete and wood are smooth and even. Therefore, the carpet tape can have greater coverage on the surface. On the other hand, wool, textiles and coarse fibers have a small surface area and can adhere to adhesives. This usually results in lower bond strength.

You can increase the number of strips to make up for the smaller surface area.

WILL DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE DAMAGE CARPET?

Not all double-sided tapes are the same. Many use rubber adhesives, although reliable, they make the removal process more difficult. When removed, the rubber adhesive usually peels off some of the carpet-fibers.

Fortunately, New Era carpet tape uses silicone adhesives. Compared with rubber, silicone is more durable and will not leave sticky residue or damage the surface after removal.

To prevent damage to the surface of the carpet or floor, please choose a carpet tape that uses silicone or silicone rubber compound adhesive.

WILL CARPET TAPE RUIN HARDWOOD FLOORS?

The same rules apply to hardwood floors. Choose carpet jointing tape with silicone or silicone rubber adhesives to avoid damaging hardwood floors. Our products are sturdy, but we have also designed them to not damage the delicate hardwood floors.

Remember to choose the New Era brand, especially on fine hardwood or laminate floors. When developing double-sided carpet tape, we considered delicate floor materials. After all, we don’t want to damage your delicate hardwood floors just because of carpet accessories.

HOW TO REMOVE CARPET TAPE?

To remove New Era carpet tile tape, slowly and carefully pull the carpet away from the surface. Our carpet tape should be clean and free of any sticky residue or surface damage.

To ensure that there is no residue, the adhesive can be partially heated before removing the carpet tape. You can use the warm air exhaust of a hair dryer or a heat gun to heat the installation site. This process will partially melt and soften the adhesive, preventing the adhesive from peeling off the hardwood veneer or paint.

HOW TO REMOVE CARPET TAPE RESIDUE FROM THE WOOD FLOOR?

Using a commercial adhesive solution is the best way to remove adhesive residue. You can also use lighter liquids or kerosene. Soak the residue in a lighter liquid, kerosene or viscous solution for at least five minutes to make it soft.

After soaking, just wipe the surface with microfiber or cloth carpet.

WHAT IS THE BEST CARPET TAPE?

Considering the many options on the market, choosing carpet tape for carpets can be difficult. The best carpet tapes are made of silicone adhesives, which are residue-free and removable. It needs to have high shear stress resistance and high tensile strength. These are all factors that New Era strives to achieve. It has the best performance and bonding strength with detachability, surface safety, wood safety and no residue.
